Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
BookSprite processes information only as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the BookSprite reading service. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
Information we process
- Account information: your account identifier, email address, and, when supplied by your sign-in provider, display name.
- Book page images: when you use narration, BookSprite sends a compressed image of the visible book pages to our service so the printed story text can be recognized. Normal reading sessions do not save the page image in BookSprite storage.
- Reading activity: session timestamps, recognized story text, pages narrated, processing measurements, and usage totals needed to deliver narration, manage the monthly allowance, troubleshoot failures, and improve service reliability.
- Subscription information: product, entitlement, transaction identifier, purchase status, and renewal information needed to provide and support paid plans. BookSprite does not receive your complete payment-card or bank-account details.
- Operational information: limited request, connection, error, latency, and security events. BookSprite's production logs exclude story text, page images, credentials, and account identities.
How we use and disclose information
We use this information for app functionality, authentication, account and subscription management, usage limits, security, troubleshooting, service analytics, and reliability improvements. We disclose it only to service providers that process it on our behalf, including Google Firebase for authentication, Google Cloud and Vertex AI for hosting and page recognition/narration, and RevenueCat for subscription management. Google Play processes payments under Google's own terms.
Vertex AI may temporarily retain model inputs and outputs for caching, security, or abuse monitoring under Google Cloud's applicable terms. Google states that it does not use Vertex AI customer data to train or fine-tune models without the customer's permission or instruction.
Security and retention
BookSprite encrypts app data in transit using HTTPS or secure WebSockets and restricts production data access to authorized systems and operators. Account, subscription, reading-session, recognized-text, and usage records are retained while needed to operate an active account. Privacy-safe operational logs are kept for a limited period needed for security and troubleshooting. Service providers may retain information for the periods described in their terms.
Account deletion
You can request deletion from the Account screen in the app or on our account deletion page. After verification, BookSprite deletes the account and associated personal data under its control, including its Firebase account, BookSprite database records, and RevenueCat customer record. Deleting a BookSprite account does not itself cancel an active Google Play subscription; cancel it through Google Play or BookSprite's Manage billing screen first. Payment processors may retain transaction records as required for financial, fraud-prevention, or legal obligations.
